Pelophryne linanitensis was described recently (Das 2008). It must be considered a rare species. It is known from the type locality at Batu Linanit (Murud Range, Sarawak). It has been found high up in montane forest at 2,250 m asl. Only five specimens are known to science.

Size of adults: up to 18.6 mm snout-vent length in males. Only males are known.
The primary colour of the dorsum is brown, with an hour-glass pattern. Finger I is without a free phalange. Fingers and toes are connected by fleshy webbing.

Males call from leaves at 5–15 cm above the ground. The call consists of a metallic 'ping' note, repeated 4–5 times in a call series. Tadpoles have not been found.
